It was a stunning drive down to the
Andrew, brother and groomsmen were busying themselves finishing off the table and decorations in the main South Barn. Meanwhile as Emma had been delayed with preparations elsewhere I managed to get some shots of the venue set in it’s snowy valley landscape. Inside the East Barn all was beautifully set for the service.
Gradually guests arrived and headed for the warmth of the fire inside whist outside a hog roast was being attended by a poor guy who must have been freezing but never stopped smiling. I managed to warm up with a coffee and a chat with one of Emma bridesmaids and soon the girl in question arrived with her parents.
Although time was a little tight I managed to get some nice natural light photos of Emma and a few fun shots before the ceremony, including Emma’s father dutifully straightening his wife’s seams!
During the ceremony there was a relaxed feel, although I think I saw a little glimmer of emotion on Emma’s face as she walked down the aisle to meet Andrew. Actually though during the service the main nerves seemed to be from the registrar, who managed to get Emma and Andrew’s names mixed up at a crucial moment, much to the amusement of all. I managed to capture all the main events carefully using the light coming through the side windows to edge light the couple.
Outside was freezing! However Andrew and Emma insisted to have shots outside in the courtyard between the barns. Here the guests kept warm with mulled cider and beer, although I saw a few goose pimples!
As the light was fading fast we grabbed some time to get the groups shots in the lowering sun and I even persuaded Emma to chuck a couple of snowballs at Andrew (I’d always wanted to get a shot like this…Tick!)
Later the meal, speeches and dancing took place in the candle lit and Xmassy decorated barn complete with Xmas tree and guests were kept amused by magician who roamed around the tables.
A spectacularly, unusual fun day was had by all who managed to make the journey down to deepest
