It was a perfect day for photography for Philippa & Ian. That is to say it was sunny, but not that type of super bright day that has everyone squinting and me struggling to find better light in the shade of trees.
But it was very warm, particularly inside the venue as Philippa and Ian got ready in separate rooms. I always like this type of day. There’s no chance of bride or groom being late and I get quality time to photograph the preparations creatively.
Philippa was really chilled out in the large bridal suite which, whilst Ian got ready and busied himself with buttonholes and greeting guests.
Hartsfield Manor is a really grand venue that I have been to on a handful of occasions and it always provides a good vibe amongst the guests and plenty of opportunities for me. It has also been revamped lately and now looks really stylish and grand at the same time.
The ceremony room was decked out with covered chairs and beautiful flowers and Philippa was beaming as she entered. As I concentrated on getting some discreet shots the guests were treated to a stunning scene in front of them, bathed in bright light coming through the stone windows.
Hartsfield has plenty of different places for photographs, and I made use of a few of them for the portraits of Philippa & Ian. After suitable mingling time on the terrace which overlook the Surrey Hills, I took the couple around the other side of the Manor to a rustic lane with hills and trees in the background. I like theses shots particularly, but there was a nice feel about all the informal ones too.
I hope you all enjoyed the day as much as I did it was a pleasure to be involved.
