Alice and Jamie’s wedding was eagerly anticipated. The ceremony was to take place in Guildford high street and as I arrived the sun was beating down on the cobbled street. It was Heritage day and Morris dancers had just started outside the church as I photographed Jamie and his groomsmen walk up the busy street. Here was an opportunity too good to miss and the head dancer obviously thought so too as he encouraged Jamie and his best man to join in. I thought Jamie coped really well considering he had to last for a complete dance, but at least it took his mind off things for a while…

Alice duly arrived and was beaming as she walked up to the church with her father. She looked beautiful as she walked into the church, preceded by her flower girls who scattered rose petals, to meet Jamie at the altar.

After the ceremony there was plenty of mingling time and guests were offered champagne at the door before going down to street level. Once Alice and Jamie had been showered with confetti from all angles, they went for a stroll with their attendants down the high street and back up again for a pre-arranged photo shoot.

This turned out well for me and I managed to get some good shots with all the elements of a sunny Guildford in the background.

At Farnham Castle the weather and grounds provided a stunning backdrop for formal and informal photographs, and the rose garden gave Alice and Jamie a little privacy whilst I took some portraits.

Inside, the Great Hall looked magnificent and the wedding party settled down to a meal with a string quartet providing the music from a balcony.
